Mark S. Fradin, M.D.

Dr. Fradin grew up in Buffalo, NY and graduated magna cum laude from Brown University. He received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed an internship in internal medicine at New York University. Dr. Fradin did his residency in dermatology at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and has been in practice in Chapel Hill since 1990.

Dr. Fradin is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has conducted clinical trials of new dermatologic drugs for more than 15 years, and is the recipient of the Upjohn Award for Excellence in Dermatology Research. He has written chapters for dermatology, travel medicine, and wilderness medicine textbooks and has authored over 15 articles in medical journals. Dr. Fradin has a special interest in the safety and efficacy of insect repellents. He has lectured nationally on these topics, and continues to publish in this field, most recently in the New England Journal of Medicine. His outside interests include tai chi, hiking, photography, and pastry cooking. Dr. Fradin and his wife live in Chapel Hill with their two children.
